About Journal

Started in 1962Geophysical Prospecting for Petroleum is a bimonthly academic and technical journal encompassing all aspects of hydrocarbon geophysical prospecting, including basic theory, methods, techniques, and applications. It is one of the earliest journals on geophysical prospecting and has the longest publication history in the hydrocarbon prospecting industry in China. It is under the supervision of the Sinopec Group and is sponsored by the Sinopec Geophysical Research Institute. Publication is carried out by Science Press and the Editorial Board of the journal. The coverage includes basic theory, techniques, technology, practices, experience, and discussion related to hydrocarbon geophysical prospecting.

Geophysical Prospecting for Petroleum is a national Chinese core journal and is accepted by Chinese Science and Technology core journals, Chinese Science Citation database (CSCD) source journals, and the Research Center for Chinese Science Evaluation core academic journals. Furthermore, the journal is continuously indexed in the Chinese Core Journal (selection) database, database of Chinese Scientific and Technical Periodicals, Chinese Scientific and Technical Papers and Citations Database, Chinese Journal Full-Text Database, Chinese Academic Journals Comprehensive Citation Database, Chinese Petroleum Abstracts, and Chinese Science Abstracts (Chinese Edition). It is also continuously indexed in the Scopus database. During 2013-2016, it was indexed by EI.

Geophysical Prospecting for Petroleum has been awarded several prizes by the China Petroleum and Chemical industry association, China Science Publishing & Media Group Ltd., and Sinopec Group Ltd. The publication emphasizes the development and importance of scientific achievements in geophysics as well as all fringe sciences related to geophysics, comprehensive research, eminent case histories, experiences in production management, research on latest technologies, and important scientific and technological events. It publishes the latest research results from the 863 Program, the 973 Program, the National Science and Technology Major Project of China, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
