    Joint inversion of up-going SS-wave and PP-wave in land zero offset VSP with P-wave source and a tentative exploration of their application

    • There are basically 4 main seismic waves of down-going and up-going P-wave, down-going and up-going SV-wave in VSP seismic exploration, which have been widely used, but the up-going SS-wave in land VSP with P-wave source was rarely known and has not been effectively applied.The genesis up-going S-wave and its characteristics are summarized, and the basic principle and implementation of reservoir prediction around borehole are introduced in this paper.We first separate down-going and up-going S-wave, as well as down-going and up-going P-wave, second get 1D/2D images of above up-going P-wave and up-going S-wave and transform them to seismic attribute section, like amplitude envelope, finally calculate attribute ratio or attribute difference sections for reservoirs prediction and analysis of oil and gas potential.The relevant process of data processing and reservoir prediction is also given in the paper.Results of the actual data processing show the effect of the method.
