Water layer multiple attenuation technique for OBC seismic data in shallow water area and its application

Abstract
Water layer multiples develop most and energy strongest in ocean bottom cable (OBC) seismic data,especially in the shallow water area with water depth less than 100 m.We proposed a method of ocean bottom cable shallow water de-multiple to suppress the water layer multiples of OBC seismic data in shallow water areas.The method is water layer model-driven,which uses the wavefield continuation in τ-p domain to build an initial multiple model of water layer multiples of OBC seismic data firstly.Then the multi-channel equalization matched filtering technique is applied to match the multiple model and seismic data.Finally,the multiple is removed from OBC seismic data.The application results on model data and real data show that our technique can effectively suppress water layer multiples for OBC seismic data in shallow water areas,and improve the quality of OBC seismic data.
