Grid computing and prospect in petroleum E&P

Grid computing becomes a hot topic and trend of information technology. By using of grid computing technology, all kinds of resources including information,data,storage, computing power,software and knowledge resources can be shared.This paper presents the concept of grid computing in detail,outlines the research and application of grid computing technology at home and abroad.CNGrid (China National Grid) is described from the aspects of aim,infrastructure construction, applications,and architecture of CNGrid software. Finally, describes the status of applications of grid computing technology in petroleum exploration and production, and presents prospect in the future.
