Abstract: A new approach for extracting seismic wavelet is presented in this paper. By autocorrelation and phase separation of seismic traces, the assumption that the reflection coefficients should be the minimum phase and the noise should be white for the conventional deconvolution would never be a necessary assumption again. Therefore, the resolution of seismic records would thus be improved.Also,the new approach has proved itself practicable as a result of a number of experiments on synthetic seismograms and the actual seismic data processing made.
