Abstract:
Normal moveout (NMO) correction plays a vital role in seismic data processing. The failure of conventional NMO correction methods is due to indifference to the effects of different offsets on NMO velocity, which in turn affects statics. There are residual moveout and static time shift in the seismic gather after NMO and static corrections, leading to poor stacking and migration imaging. The paper discusses the offset division NMO correction method. On the ground of the effects of different offsets on NMO velocity, this method can eliminate the residual moveout in CMP gather effectively. Therefore the continuity and smoothness of seismic events are improved.
