Abstract: This paper describes in detail the principle of non-linear inversion on AVO responses as well as the construction of objective function and calculation of Hesse matrix which are all used in the inversion. Accurate values of Poisson's ratio are obtained and gas reservoirs are detected directly by using the proposed method. Real examples show that the proposed AVO non-linear inversion method results in exact solutions and has broad prospects for application.
